A Fresh and Modern Thanksgiving Table

As featured in the November 2014 issue of Inviting Arkansas

Long before the first appetizer is served, your tablecape sets the tone for the holiday meal. As we look forward to Thanksgiving, we are seeing several new dynamic trends in color and décor. Traditional is shifting to sophisticated. Rich crème and natural hues are replacing typical warm colors. Make a bold first impression with these ideas for centerpieces, dishes and more.

Tipton & Hurst designer and stylist Chris Norwood, AIFD, PFCI, looks to nature’s best for his clean and elegant Thanksgiving table. “I wanted it to be organic and contemporary,” Norwood said. “A fabulous table setting doesn’t have to be conventional. If you blend vintage patterns, fresh greens, and stunning textures-
you can create a modern table with smart new twists.”

Instead of predictable Thanksgiving oranges and yellows, Chris recommends giving an unexpected nod to the harvest by pairing organic floral arrangements with bundles of wheat sheaves. Using natural tones and bright green hues will bring a fresh and modern element to any tablescape.

Top off your décor with white pumpkins and heirloom accessories. Blend a variety of echinacea and kale to bring a harvest vibe to the table. Send guests home with a succulent arrangement, or even use them as table card holders!

A beautifully set table makes any meal a special occasion — and what dinner could be more important than Thanksgiving? Pull out all the stops and set a table that’s dressed to impress.
